Students holding medical folders

P.P.I.M is a pre-professional program purposed to equip young women that have been underrepresented, but have a passion for medicine with what they need to become the medical professionals that they dream to be. As apart of this program young women will have a variety of opportunities to learn the ins and outs of the medical field. First, members will have the opportunity to volunteer at and shadow medical professionals at Bellevue and Queens Hospital Centers. Secondly, young women will have the opportunity to participate in quarterly journal club and scholarly academy meetings. During these meetings young women will have the opportunity to explore medical articles in which they will learn more about topics and current events taking place in the world of medicine. Lastly, our young women will have the opportunity to have one-to-one mentorship from individuals that work in the medical field. These medical professionals have agreed to answer any questions that our PPIM members have about pursuing medicine or nursing. These professionals will also guide our young women through medical and nursing school applications, and provide them with scholarships opportunities, lectures, information sessions and programs that will our PPIM members will need in order to successfully pursue their purpose in medicine.
